| it might not seem like it but this little boy is smiling. he must be almost five. |
not thirty seconds after we pulled into a spot to park our new friends, the meads, pulled in across from us. just my boys and i with a pack full of sandwiches for dinner, or so i thought(john went to aniak for work). what a pleasant surprise to find some like-minded friends hiking beside us. my boys loved running around with their boys and tiny yorkie. we showed our new-to-alaska friends the blueberries that were finally ripe. it was lovely.
we parted ways at the fork in the path, they headed for the summit and we took the loop around. before we parted, stephanie hooked us up with salt water taffy for a sweet before-dinner-snack. who knew that hiking could make simple taffy taste so good? then we found a spot overlooking town and ate our picnic: rotisserie chicken on bagels, apples, and ice cold water. we took the over-the-mountain route back to the car. it felt like we were falling off the earth in some places. then home to bed with the sun still shining brightly.

I showed Andrew the picture of all 3 boys and he said, oh look at those silly boys. They are just silly. He sure loves them! Can't wait til we get to see you guys again! How is school going? So far so good for Andrew. I was a nutcase at first, but so far all is well. Thank goodness :)
