The "Spot"

My two-year-old, Asher, has been scouting out his own special little "spots" since he could walk. His first "spot" was my husband's tool case on the floor in our room. One day Asher walked in our room shoulders thrown back, little chest puffed out, small hands on his hips, boldly looked around then proudly walked over and plopped himself down on his newly self-appointed throne. He wiggled a little, scooting his bottom back and forth until he was comfortable, then beamed with pleasure about his new spot.

He sat there just gazing around the room like it was his kingdom and I was his loyal subject. Then after maybe two minutes
(which is pretty long for such a little guy) he jumped up and ran to play with his toys. For the next several months every time he came into my room he would go straight to his "spot" in exactly the same way he did that first time. So, of course, the tool case that was supposed to go back to the storage room became a permanent eyesor...aaahem...I mean fixture in our room. Until, that is, Asher found another "spot." I'm not sure what it is he looks for in a "spot", but I imagine he's got a whole list of qualifications that he consults when he starts scouting. Recently Asher has chosen a new "spot". It's quiet, tucked back from the main traffic, but still has a great view. It was probably that great secret entrance that first caught his attention. He looked long and hard before he decided on this new "spot". I think he might be there for awhile because he brought along some reading material and his blankie. What do you think?

Oh I love it and we all need our spots, joe was telling me about "his spot" when he was little, the balcony that looked into the living room. Asher is so cute I just want to kiss his little cheeks!!!
