The Six Year Break-Through

I know that generally, containing and storing jewelery is not that difficult, but for me it has been. I've tried traditional jewelry boxes, compartmentalized plastic cases, little baskets in my bathroom drawers, etc. Now all of those ideas are all well and good except for one thing: not easily accessible. The necklaces got tangled together and I could not even see what I had, thus I didn't wear my jewelry very often. And so six years into my home managing career I finally came up with a system for display and storage that works. And guess what? I started wearing my jewelry again!

It was a little dark in the closet so I stuck some LED lights on the bottom of the shelf above the dresser.



A magnetic spice container contains my dangling earrings grouped together by color. A bonus of this system is that when I travel I just grab one of round containers with the earrings I need and toss it in the suitcase. For hair jewelry I added an eyelet to a wide piece of gross grain ribbon and attached it with a small screw through the eyelet. I treated a smaller piece of gross grain the same way and attached my smaller stud earrings to it.

My mom made me this adorable quilted high heels runner for my dresser.

I have several pairs of large wide earrings that will not fit in the spice containers and for now they are in a small wood chest sitting on the dresser. I plan on making this wonderful project from Joy at Joys of Home for them to hang on in the near future.
